a Palestinian state?

So, it goes without saying that the Israeli-Palestinian situation always stirs debate. I really wonder what kind of discussion/debate/ridiculous antics will arise when Palestinians ask the Security Council to proclaim a state in Gaza and West Bank.

Come on, if that doesn't get someone to respond, I don't know what will.

  1. The time may well be ripe for calling for UN recognition. As the article in the post suggests, President Obama may well be starting to see the trend. The status quo - new housing and residencies slowly but surely encroaching upon east Jerusalem and other Palestinian-held areas - leads not to stalemate but the eradication of Palestine as an entity of any kind, recognized or not. US-Israel relations are clearly vital, and have a lot of backing (if you're interested, consider reading The Israel Lobby by Mearsheimer and Walt, some of the premier thinkers in modern international relations) but since inaction itself is becoming so highly biased, there is a chance that the notion of recognition will be entertained for while before it is dismissed.
